Which global organization publishes the annual World Trade Report?
Answer
World Trade Organization
Answer
World Trade Organization
The World Trade Organization publishes the annual World Trade Report.
The report examines a major issue affecting international trade and presents analysis, data and policy context. Its subjects have included trade and development, digital technologies, climate change, services and the role of trade in economic resilience.
The publication is one of the WTO’s research and transparency outputs. It is separate from WTO legal instruments, dispute rulings and member-specific Trade Policy Reviews. Readers sometimes confuse it with reports from the World Bank, IMF or UNCTAD because those institutions also publish major annual economic studies.
The WTO was established in 1995 and serves as a forum for trade negotiations, a venue for disputes and an institution that monitors trade policies. Its annual report therefore combines statistical evidence with discussion of the rules and institutions governing world commerce.
