Which girl group launched Beyoncé’s recording career before her solo debut?
Answer
Destiny's Child
Answer
Destiny's Child
Destiny’s Child launched Beyoncé’s recording career before her solo debut.
The group formed in Houston in the early 1990s under the name Girl’s Tyme. After changes in membership and a record deal with Columbia Records, the group became Destiny’s Child. Its best-known lineup consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams, although the group had earlier members as well.
Destiny’s Child became one of the best-selling female groups in music history. Songs such as “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” and “Bootylicious” helped establish the group’s reputation for vocal harmonies, polished choreography, and themes of independence. Beyoncé was the group’s most prominent lead vocalist, but the group’s success depended on its ensemble identity.
Destiny’s Child entered an initial hiatus in 2002, allowing Beyoncé to develop her solo career. The group later reunited for performances, but its final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, was released in 2004.
