Which gift does Luisa possess in Encanto?

Luisa Madrigal possesses super strength in Encanto. She is Mirabel’s older sister and can lift enormous weights, carry buildings, move donkeys, and perform physically demanding work for the villagers.

Luisa receives her magical gift at age five, as each Madrigal descendant does after the family’s enchanted candle grants them a room and a special ability. Her strength makes her the dependable worker of the community: she repairs bridges, transports heavy objects, and handles tasks nobody else can manage. The film initially presents this power as a source of confidence and usefulness.

However, Luisa’s song “Surface Pressure” reveals the emotional cost of always being strong. She worries that if she stops carrying everyone else’s burdens, she will disappoint her family.
