Which German city is the headquarters of Adidas?
Answer
Herzogenaurach
Answer
Herzogenaurach
The German city that serves as Adidas’s headquarters is Herzogenaurach.
Herzogenaurach is a small city in Bavaria, near Nuremberg. It was the Dassler family’s home and the birthplace of the shoe business that eventually became Adidas. Adolf “Adi” Dassler began producing athletic shoes there before his brother Rudolf joined him in 1924.
The city became famous for the rivalry between Adidas and Puma after the Dassler brothers separated. Adidas retained facilities on one side of town, while Rudolf’s Puma developed its own presence nearby. Residents and workers were once associated with one brand or the other, giving Herzogenaurach the nickname “the town of bent necks,” because people reportedly looked down to identify which shoes others were wearing.
Adidas remains headquartered in Herzogenaurach, not in Berlin, Munich, or Nuremberg. Nuremberg is the closest major city and is often mentioned as a regional reference, but it is not Adidas’s headquarters city.
