What was the name of the official match ball for the 2014 FIFA World Cup?

The story behind the answer

The official match ball for the 2014 FIFA World Cup was the Adidas Brazuca.

Held in Brazil, the tournament used the Brazuca as its official ball after Adidas spent more than two years testing the design with players and teams. Its name was chosen through a public vote among Brazilian fans and refers to a Brazilian way of life characterized by national pride and enthusiasm.

The Brazuca had six thermally bonded polyurethane panels, a much lower panel count than many traditional footballs. Adidas said this construction improved consistency and aerodynamic stability, partly addressing criticism of the Jabulani ball used at the 2010 World Cup.

The final itself used a special version called the Brazuca Final Rio. It retained the same technical construction but had a distinctive green, gold, and black color scheme. Tango was associated with earlier Adidas balls, Telstar debuted at the 1970 World Cup, and Jabulani belonged to South Africa 2010.
