LVMH became Europe’s first company valued at more than €500 billion in market capitalization.
LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton crossed the €500 billion threshold in April 2023. The milestone reflected the strength of luxury-goods shares and the scale of the group’s brand portfolio. Its businesses cover fashion and leather goods, wines and spirits, perfumes and cosmetics, watches and jewelry, and selective retailing.
The group was formed in 1987 through the merger of Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy. Bernard Arnault has served as chairman and chief executive, and the Arnault family has been a major shareholder. LVMH’s best-known labels include Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, Moët & Chandon, and Hennessy.
LVMH is not the same as Louis Vuitton, which is one brand inside the larger group. Market capitalization measures the combined value of LVMH’s listed shares, rather than the estimated value of any single label.
