Which Forza Horizon game was the series' first multi-console installment?

The story behind the answer

Forza Horizon 2 was the first multi-console installment in the Forza Horizon series.

Released in 2014, it launched on both Xbox One and Xbox 360. That made it different from the original Forza Horizon, which was an Xbox 360-only release, and from the later Horizon games that were built around newer Xbox hardware and Windows support.

The two versions of Forza Horizon 2 were not identical. Playground Games led development of the Xbox One edition, while Sumo Digital handled the Xbox 360 version with support from Turn 10 Studios. The Xbox One release used a more advanced engine and included features such as dynamic weather; the Xbox 360 edition was technically scaled back.

The game was also notable as the final Forza title released for Xbox 360. Its Southern France and Northern Italy setting expanded the open-world festival concept, while the simultaneous generation transition helped establish Horizon as a major multi-platform Xbox series.
