Which Fortnite mode removes the building elements from Battle Royale?
Answer
Zero Build
Answer
Zero Build
The Fortnite mode that removes the building elements from Battle Royale is Zero Build.
Zero Build preserves the core battle-royale contest—landing, looting, rotating through the shrinking safe area, and fighting until one player or team remains—while removing the ability to construct the usual walls, ramps, floors, and roofs. Because players cannot instantly build cover, movement, positioning, natural terrain, and weapon accuracy become especially important.
Epic introduced Zero Build in March 2022. It first appeared as a temporary replacement for standard Battle Royale during the opening of Chapter 3 Season 2, then became a permanent standalone option in April 2022. The mode also added an overshield, giving players a regenerating layer of protection suited to fights without player-built cover.
The name is sometimes shortened informally to “no build,” but Zero Build is the canonical mode name. “Combat Only,” “Pure Royale,” and “No Build Arena” are not the standard labels for this main Fortnite option. Zero Build is distinct from creative islands that happen to forbid construction: it is an official Battle Royale ruleset.
