Which former Jets head coach took over the Titans for 2026?

Robert Saleh, the former New York Jets head coach, took over the Tennessee Titans for the 2026 season.

The Titans hired Saleh as the 22nd head coach in franchise history. He previously led the Jets from 2021 through 2024, establishing a defense-first identity and helping develop players such as cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive lineman Quinnen Williams.

Saleh’s first NFL head-coaching job followed a successful run as the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator. Before that, he held defensive coaching roles with the Seahawks, Jaguars and Texans, giving him a long background in designing aggressive fronts and developing defenders.

Rex Ryan is another former Jets head coach, but Saleh is the coach connected to the Titans’ 2026 change. Todd Bowles and Adam Gase also coached the Jets, yet neither was hired by Tennessee for this season. The schedule even created an immediate storyline by matching Saleh’s Titans against the Jets in Week 1.
