Which Foreigner member co-produced Billy Joel's album Storm Front?

The story behind the answer

Mick Jones of Foreigner co-produced Billy Joel’s album Storm Front.

Storm Front, Joel’s eleventh studio album, marked a major change in his production team. After years of working closely with Phil Ramone, Joel brought in Jones, the guitarist, songwriter, and leader associated with Foreigner. The album credits list production by Billy Joel and Mick Jones.

The collaboration helped give the record a harder, more guitar-oriented rock sound than some of Joel’s previous work. Storm Front was released in October 1989 and became one of Joel’s most commercially successful albums, led by the historical hit “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

The other choices are members or former members associated with Foreigner, which makes them plausible distractions. Dennis Elliott was Foreigner’s drummer, Ian McDonald was a multi-instrumentalist and founding member, and Lou Gramm was the band’s lead vocalist. None of them co-produced Storm Front. Jones’s role was behind the studio console as well as in the broader musical collaboration.
