Which food company was formed by the 2015 merger of Kraft Foods Group and Heinz?

The story behind the answer

Kraft Heinz was formed by the 2015 merger of Kraft Foods Group and Heinz.

The merger was announced in March 2015 and completed on July 2, 2015. It was backed by Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital and Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, which had acquired Heinz with 3G in 2013. The new company combined Kraft’s American grocery brands with Heinz’s international food business.

Its portfolio included names such as Heinz ketchup, Kraft macaroni and cheese, Philadelphia cream cheese and Oscar Mayer. The company became the third-largest food and beverage company in North America and the fifth-largest globally at the time of the merger.

Kraft Heinz should not be confused with Mondelēz International. Mondelēz was created in 2012 when Kraft Foods split its global snack business from the North American grocery company that later merged with Heinz.
