Which food company merged with Heinz in 2015 to create The Kraft Heinz Company?
Answer
Kraft Foods Group
Answer
Kraft Foods Group
Kraft Foods Group merged with Heinz in 2015 to create The Kraft Heinz Company.
The merger was announced in March 2015 and completed in July of that year. It was backed by Berkshire Hathaway and the Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital, which already controlled Heinz.
Kraft Foods Group owned brands such as Kraft, Oscar Mayer, and Philadelphia. Heinz contributed its long-established ketchup, sauces, and packaged-food businesses. The combination created one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies.
This transaction is often confused with Kraft’s 2012 corporate split. Kraft Foods Group was the North American grocery company created by that split, while Mondelez International received the global snack business. Kraft Heinz was formed later through the Heinz combination.
