Foo Fighters' lead single from *But Here We Are* was “Rescued.”
The song was released on April 19, 2023, the same day Foo Fighters announced the album. That timing made it the band's first new single following Taylor Hawkins' death and introduced the record's central emotional terrain: shock, absence, and the desire to recover someone or something lost.
“Rescued” was the album's first single, while “Under You” followed as the second. “Show Me How” and “The Glass” were also released before the album, but their later release dates make them incorrect answers to a lead-single question. The track was written by Dave Grohl, Rami Jaffee, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, and Pat Smear, and was produced by Foo Fighters with Greg Kurstin.
