Which Foo Fighters song was re-recorded for The X-Files soundtrack?

“Walking After You” was the Foo Fighters song re-recorded for The X-Files soundtrack.

The original version appeared on The Colour and the Shape, released in 1997. Dave Grohl performed the vocals and most of the instruments on that sparse recording, with Nate Mendel playing bass. For The X-Files: The Album, Foo Fighters recorded a fuller version with the band lineup of the period.

The soundtrack version featured Grohl, guitarist Franz Stahl, bassist Mendel, and drummer Taylor Hawkins. It was produced by Jerry Harrison and released as a single in 1998. The recording also added piano and backing vocals from Craig Wedren, giving it a more expansive arrangement than the original album take.

The song is sometimes confused with “A320,” another Foo Fighters soundtrack contribution from the same era, but “A320” was connected to Godzilla. “Walking After You” appeared over the ending credits of the 1998 X-Files film.
