Which Foo Fighters album was the last to feature drummer Taylor Hawkins before his death?
Answer
Medicine at Midnight
Answer
Medicine at Midnight
Medicine at Midnight was the last Foo Fighters album to feature drummer Taylor Hawkins before his death. Released on February 5, 2021, it was the band’s tenth studio album and Hawkins’s final Foo Fighters studio recording during his lifetime.
The album followed 2017’s Concrete and Gold and was produced by Greg Kurstin alongside the band. Recording took place between October 2019 and February 2020 in an old house in Encino, Los Angeles. The unusual setting later helped inspire the Foo Fighters’ comedy-horror film Studio 666.
Medicine at Midnight marked a stylistic shift toward brighter, more danceable rock, with Dave Grohl comparing its intended feel to David Bowie’s Let’s Dance. Singles included “Shame Shame,” “No Son of Mine,” “Waiting on a War,” “Making a Fire,” and “Love Dies Young.”
A common mix-up is confusing the album with The Essential Foo Fighters, released in 2022. That compilation was the band’s first release after Hawkins’s death, but it was not a new studio album featuring him.
