Which Firefox fork is developed by Moonchild Productions?
Answer
Pale Moon
Answer
Pale Moon
Pale Moon is the Firefox fork developed by Moonchild Productions.
Pale Moon began as a modified Firefox build and gradually became a distinct browser project. It emphasized customization, a traditional Firefox-style interface, and continued support for technologies and add-ons that Mozilla later removed. The project is associated with M.C. Straver and is developed under the Moonchild Productions name.
The browser originally used Mozilla’s Gecko rendering engine, but Pale Moon later diverged technically. Since version 26, it has used Goanna, a fork of Gecko. The project also helped develop the Unified XUL Platform, preserving parts of the older XUL and XPCOM application model after mainstream Firefox moved toward a different architecture.
Pale Moon is sometimes confused with Waterfox or LibreWolf because all are Firefox-derived browsers. They are separate projects with different goals and maintainers. CometBird is another historical Firefox-based browser, but it is not the fork developed by Moonchild Productions. Pale Moon remains available for Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD.
