Which Fire Emblem game features the 'Three Houses' setting?

The story behind the answer

Which Fire Emblem game features the “Three Houses” setting? Fire Emblem: Three Houses features it.

Released for Nintendo Switch in 2019, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is set on the continent of Fódlan. Its central location is Garreg Mach Monastery, home to an Officers Academy whose students are divided among three houses: the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deer.

Each house represents one of Fódlan’s major powers. The Black Eagles are linked to the Adrestian Empire, the Blue Lions to the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and the Golden Deer to the Leicester Alliance. Players choose which house Byleth will teach, and that decision shapes relationships, battles, and the story’s later route.

The title can be confused with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a 2022 spin-off set in the same universe. Three Hopes revisits Fódlan with an alternate storyline, but Three Houses is the original game that established the academy and its three-house setting.
