In The Binding Blade, what ancient war was fought between humanity and dragons?

In The Binding Blade, the ancient war between humanity and dragons was called the Scouring.

The Scouring took place on Elibe roughly a thousand years before Roy's story. Humanity began the conflict against the dragons, whose immense power had dominated the continent. Although the dragons were formidable, their populations could not recover quickly because they reproduced far more slowly than humans. The war ultimately ended with the dragons defeated and driven from the world.

Humanity's victory depended on eight Divine Weapons, which were later scattered across Elibe. The conflict also shaped the game's central mythology: the dragon Idunn was captured and stripped of her free will, eventually becoming the Demon Dragon. Players sometimes confuse the Scouring with the later conquest led by King Zephiel, but Zephiel's campaign occurs in the present-day storyline, long after the ancient war.
