Which film won Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020?

Parasite won Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020. The ceremony honored films released during 2019 and took place on February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Directed by Bong Joon-ho, Parasite made Oscar history as the first film primarily in a language other than English to win Best Picture. It also won Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, taking four awards from six nominations.

A common mix-up is The Artist, which won Best Picture in 2012. Although it was produced in France and used French intertitles, it was largely silent and did not meet the Academy’s definition of a non-English-language winner in the same way. Parasite was also the first South Korean film to receive an Academy Award.

The other listed films were nominees: 1917 received three Oscars, Joker won two, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood won two, but none took the top prize.
