Which film featured Beyoncé as Nala in the 2019 remake of The Lion King?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced Nala in The Lion King, the 2019 remake of Disney’s animated classic.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film uses photorealistic computer-generated imagery to retell the story of Simba, a young lion who must reclaim his place as king. Beyoncé joined a cast led by Donald Glover as Simba and included James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa.

Her role as Nala connected the film to a separate musical release, The Lion King: The Gift. Beyoncé curated that companion album, which was inspired by the film and included artists from Africa and the global diaspora.

The 2019 production is distinct from the 1994 animated film, in which Nala was voiced by Moira Kelly in the English-language version. Beyoncé’s Nala is therefore associated specifically with the 2019 photorealistic remake.
