Answer
Vitor Belfort
Answer
Vitor Belfort
Vitor Belfort won the first UFC bout held in Brazil, defeating Wanderlei Silva at UFC Brazil in 1998.
The event took place on October 16, 1998, at the Ginasio da Portuguesa in São Paulo. Belfort stopped Silva by technical knockout in the first round of their light heavyweight bout. The contest was part of a card officially known as UFC Brazil: Ultimate Brazil.
Belfort’s victory came during the early phase of his UFC career, when his exceptional boxing speed made him one of the promotion’s most explosive young fighters. Silva later became a major PRIDE champion and one of Brazil’s most celebrated MMA figures.
This bout is sometimes confused with later UFC events in Brazil featuring Anderson Silva, José Aldo, or other Brazilian champions. The first UFC event in Brazil occurred in 1998, well before those later cards.
