Which fighter has the most total strikes landed in UFC history?

The story behind the answer

Max Holloway has landed the most total strikes in UFC history. The Hawaiian featherweight became known for relentless volume, fast combinations and the ability to maintain a remarkable pace over five-round fights.

Holloway’s record-setting output was highlighted by his 2021 fight against Calvin Kattar. In that bout, Holloway landed 447 total strikes and 445 significant strikes, setting major UFC single-fight records. He also famously gestured toward the commentary team during the fight while continuing to outbox Kattar at range.

“Total strikes” is broader than “significant strikes.” Total strikes include all recorded strikes that land, while significant strikes are the more damaging or meaningful attacks tracked by UFC statistics. That distinction explains why different record lists can show different numbers.

Holloway’s longevity is another reason he leads the career totals. He made his UFC debut in 2012 and built a long résumé against elite opponents including José Aldo, Frankie Edgar, Brian Ortega and Alexander Volkanovski. His statistical lead can change as active fighters continue competing, but Holloway is the canonical answer to this record question.
