Which fighter has the longest winning streak in UFC history?

The story behind the answer

Anderson Silva has the longest winning streak in UFC history, with 16 consecutive victories. Silva’s remarkable run began after his 2006 UFC debut and carried him to the middleweight championship, which he won by defeating Rich Franklin at UFC 64.

During the streak, Silva defended the middleweight title successfully against opponents including Nate Marquardt, Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Patrick Côté, Thales Leites, Forrest Griffin and Demian Maia. His reign combined precise counterstriking, unusual timing and an ability to make elite opponents look hesitant.

The streak ended at UFC 162 in July 2013, when Chris Weidman defeated Silva by second-round knockout. Silva’s record is sometimes confused with unbeaten runs or title-defense records. Khabib Nurmagomedov retired undefeated, but his UFC winning streak was shorter. Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre also built extraordinary runs, yet neither surpassed Silva’s 16 UFC victories in a row.

Silva’s streak remains one of the defining statistical achievements of the UFC’s modern era, even though some of its wins came in non-title bouts.
