Which fictional world is visited through a wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

The story behind the answer

The wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe leads to Narnia. This fictional world is the setting for all seven books in Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series.

Lucy Pevensie discovers the passage first when she steps inside an old wardrobe. Beyond it lies a snowy wood, where she meets the faun Mr. Tumnus. Her siblings later follow her into Narnia and become involved in its conflict with the White Witch.

Narnia is populated by talking animals, fauns, dwarfs, giants, and other legendary beings. Aslan, the great lion, is its central heroic figure and creator in the series’ fictional history.

Narnia is sometimes confused with other fantasy settings such as Tolkien’s Middle-earth, but the two worlds belong to different authors and series. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were friends and fellow members of the Inklings.
