Which fictional racing champion was Doc Hudson known as in Pixar's Cars?

Doc Hudson was known as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet in Pixar's Cars.

The Fabulous Hudson Hornet is Doc's former racing identity. He was a three-time Piston Cup champion before a crash ended his racing career. Afterward, Doc became bitter about how quickly the racing world moved on and settled in Radiator Springs.

The character draws on the real Hudson Hornet, a car that achieved major success in early NASCAR competition. Real Hudson Hornets were noted for their “step-down” design and strong performance, and drivers such as Herb Thomas and Marshall Teague raced them successfully.

Doc initially hides his past from Lightning McQueen, who assumes that an older car has little to teach him. Discovering Doc's record changes McQueen's view of both his mentor and the history of racing.
