Which fictional race is the main championship event in Pixar’s Cars 3?

The Florida 500 is the main championship event in Pixar’s Cars 3.

The race takes place at the fictional Florida International Speedway and serves as the decisive event in Lightning McQueen’s attempt to compete with the younger, technologically advanced Jackson Storm. The Florida 500 is part of the Piston Cup racing season.

Lightning initially struggles because the new generation of racers is faster and supported by sophisticated training technology. He eventually works with Cruz Ramirez, who becomes an important partner in his renewed understanding of racing.

The film’s finale shifts attention from simply winning another race to recognizing when experience, mentorship, and new talent can work together. The Florida 500 should not be confused with the Dinoco 400, the major championship race in the first Cars film.
