Sauron is the fictional creator of the One Ring in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
Sauron forged the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom during the Second Age. He designed it to dominate the other Rings of Power and extend his influence over their bearers. The Ring contained much of his own power.
Sauron originally served Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, but later became the central enemy of the Second and Third Ages. His physical form was defeated when Isildur cut the Ring from his hand, but he endured as a disembodied spirit until he began rebuilding his power.
Celebrimbor created the Elven Rings, while Saruman was a powerful wizard who eventually served Sauron. Morgoth was Sauron’s former master. These figures are connected to the Ring’s history but are not its creator.
