Which fast food chain's logo is two golden arches forming an 'M'?
Answer
McDonald's
Answer
McDonald's
McDonald’s is the fast food chain whose logo is two golden arches forming an “M.”
The Golden Arches began as architecture rather than as a purely graphic idea. When the McDonald brothers redesigned their San Bernardino restaurant in the early 1950s, architect Stanley Clark Meston and assistant Charles Fish created large yellow arches for the building. Their shape was meant to make the roadside restaurant noticeable and memorable.
The arches later became a logo. In 1962, McDonald’s designer Jim Schindler combined the visual impression of the restaurant’s arches into a stylized “M.” The familiar standalone Golden Arches mark was introduced in 1968, and it survived even after the physical arches disappeared from most restaurant buildings.
KFC, Wendy’s, and Burger King each use very different visual systems, so they are not plausible interpretations of the paired-arch symbol. The “M” is commonly said to stand for McDonald’s, but the mark’s history began with the building’s two arches; the letter-like shape came afterward.
