Which fast food chain uses the slogan 'Think Outside the Bun'?

The story behind the answer

Taco Bell used the slogan “Think Outside the Bun.” Introduced in 2001, the advertising line played on the familiar expression “think outside the box” while contrasting Taco Bell's tortillas with the hamburger buns associated with competing fast-food chains.

The slogan reflected Taco Bell's effort to present itself as an alternative to the standard burger meal. It followed the chain's highly recognizable “Yo quiero Taco Bell” campaign, which featured a talking Chihuahua, and helped shift the brand toward a broader, more modern marketing identity.

The phrase was not Taco Bell's original slogan. Earlier campaigns included “Make a Run for the Border,” and the Chihuahua campaign made “Yo quiero Taco Bell” widely memorable. Taco Bell later replaced “Think Outside the Bun” with “Live Más” in 2012.

The wording can cause confusion because slogans are often reused informally in advertising, and “Think Outside the Bun” is no longer the chain's current tagline. Historically, however, it is strongly associated with Taco Bell and is not a slogan of Qdoba, Chipotle, or Del Taco.
