Which fast-food chain operates the restaurant brand Arby's?

The story behind the answer

Inspire Brands operates the fast-food restaurant brand Arby's.

Arby's is best known for roast beef sandwiches and the slogan “We have the meats.” The chain was founded in 1964 by brothers Forrest and Leroy Raffel, whose name inspired the initials “R.B.” in Arby's branding.

Inspire Brands acquired Arby's in 2017 and used the Arby's business as the foundation for a larger multi-brand restaurant company. Inspire later became associated with other chains, including Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic, and Dunkin'.

People sometimes confuse Arby's parent company with Restaurant Brands International because both own large fast-food portfolios. RBI owns brands such as Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes, while Arby's belongs to Inspire Brands.
