Prada is the fashion house founded in Milan in 1913 by Mario Prada that makes Prada sunglasses.
The company began as a leather-goods shop called Fratelli Prada in Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Mario Prada established the business with a focus on luxury travel goods and accessories. His granddaughter Miuccia Prada later transformed the family company into an influential international fashion brand.
Prada sunglasses are part of the brand’s wider accessories business, alongside handbags, shoes, eyewear and fragrances. The eyewear line is known for applying the house’s minimalist, geometric and sometimes experimental design language to optical frames and sunglasses.
Prada is sometimes confused with Miu Miu, the separate brand launched by Miuccia Prada in 1993. Both labels belong to the Prada Group, but Prada sunglasses carry the main house name.
