Givenchy designed Emma Stone’s gold-fringed gown for the 2017 Academy Awards.
Stone wore the custom gold dress to the ceremony, where she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for La La Land. The gown combined a slim silhouette with layered fringe, creating movement as she walked and accepted her award.
The dress is often discussed alongside Stone’s pale-gold styling and her vintage-inspired beauty look. It was created during Riccardo Tisci’s tenure as Givenchy’s creative director, before his departure from the house in 2017.
Stone’s Oscar fashion is sometimes confused with her 2015 awards-season looks, including a dark green Elie Saab gown at the Golden Globes. The 2017 Academy Awards gown, however, was Givenchy.
