“MAMA” was the title track of EXO’s 2012 debut extended play.
EXO released the extended play MAMA on 9 April 2012. The title song introduced the South Korean–Chinese boy band with a dramatic, performance-centered style and a concept built around the group’s fictional superpowers. EXO initially promoted separate Korean and Mandarin versions through its EXO-K and EXO-M units.
“Growl” is a frequent mix-up because it became one of EXO’s most recognizable early songs, but it was released in 2013 on XOXO. “Wolf” came from the same 2013 album, while “Call Me Baby” was a 2015 single.
The debut project was issued by SM Entertainment and contained songs performed in both Korean and Mandarin. EXO’s dual-unit launch was unusual in mainstream K-pop at the time, although the group later promoted primarily as one combined act.
