Which episode was restaged for the 2020 HBO Max West Wing special?

The episode restaged for the 2020 HBO Max special was “Hartsfield's Landing.” The special recreated the season-three episode as a staged performance by much of the original cast.

The original episode aired on February 27, 2002, as part of the third season. Its story centers on a fictional New Hampshire town holding an early election, while President Bartlet plays chess with Sam Seaborn and Toby Ziegler. C.J. Cregg and Charlie Young also carry a comic prank subplot.

The 2020 production was created to support When We All Vote, a nonpartisan organization focused on increasing voter participation. It was filmed at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles and released on HBO Max on October 15, 2020.

Sterling K. Brown played Leo McGarry in the special because John Spencer, the original actor, had died in 2005. “Game On,” “The Debate,” and “Noël” were not the episode restaged for this reunion.
