Saudi Aramco was valued at about $1.88 trillion when it began trading after its 2019 initial public offering.
Saudi Aramco’s shares began trading on the Saudi Stock Exchange, known as Tadawul, on December 11, 2019. The initial public offering raised about $25.6 billion, making it one of the largest IPOs ever recorded, and the company’s opening valuation was approximately $1.88 trillion.
The company is formally known as Saudi Arabian Oil Company and is controlled by the government of Saudi Arabia. It operates across oil exploration, production, refining, chemicals, and related energy activities. Its size reflects both enormous hydrocarbon reserves and its central role in Saudi Arabia’s economy.
Some reports described Saudi Aramco as approaching or briefly exceeding $2 trillion soon after listing. Such figures can vary with the share price and with whether a source uses the opening valuation, intraday value, or another calculation. The IPO also made a portion of the company publicly tradable while the state retained control.
