Which electric pickup was the first production vehicle from Rivian?

The story behind the answer

The Rivian R1T was the first production vehicle from Rivian.

Rivian began customer deliveries of the R1T electric pickup in September 2021. It was followed by the R1S, an SUV that shares much of its platform and electric-drive technology. The R1T was designed as an adventure-oriented truck, with features such as a powered front trunk, a storage tunnel behind the cab, adjustable air suspension, and four-wheel drive.

Rivian uses independent electric motors at the axles, and some versions have used one motor for each wheel. This layout allows electronic control of torque at individual wheels and gives the truck strong off-road capability. Battery size, motor arrangement, and range have varied by version and model year.

The R1T is sometimes confused with the R1S because both carry the same R1 family name. The R1T is the pickup with an open bed; the R1S is the related enclosed SUV.
