The Mustang Mach-E was the first model from Ford's Mustang family to use a battery-electric powertrain.
Ford introduced the Mustang Mach-E as a five-door electric crossover in 2019, with customer deliveries beginning for the 2021 model year. The name connected the vehicle to the Mustang brand while its body style differed from the traditional two-door sports coupe.
The Mach-E was offered with standard-range or extended-range battery packs and either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Performance versions added stronger motors and revised chassis hardware.
The Mustang Mach-E is not the same vehicle as the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Lightning is an electric pickup truck based on the F-Series, whereas the Mach-E is a dedicated crossover. The earlier Focus Electric was also battery-powered, but it did not belong to the Mustang family.
