Which electric car introduced Tesla’s first SUV body style in 2015?

The story behind the answer

The Tesla Model X introduced Tesla’s first SUV body style in 2015.

Tesla began deliveries of the Model X in September 2015. It shared much of its underlying architecture with the Model S but added three-row seating, a taller crossover shape and standard all-wheel drive through front and rear electric motors.

The model became especially recognizable for its powered falcon-wing rear doors, which rise upward rather than swinging conventionally out from the body. Tesla designed the doors to help passengers enter in tight parking spaces, although their complexity also attracted criticism.

The Model X is often confused with the Model Y because both are Tesla crossovers. The Model X is the larger, more expensive vehicle and arrived several years earlier. It was also offered with a towing package and a higher seating capacity than Tesla’s later compact crossover.
