Which Dragon's Den investor, whose surname is Jones, was part of the original 2005 panel?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones was part of the original Dragon's Den investor panel in 2005.

Jones is a British entrepreneur and businessman whose interests have included technology, retail, telecommunications and leisure. His long-running presence on the programme made him one of its most recognisable investors, and he is the only original dragon to remain a regular investor throughout the British series.

The original panel also included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Richard Farleigh. Several of those investors later left, while new dragons joined in successive series. That changing panel is why the original line-up is often confused with later familiar combinations.

Peter Jones should not be confused with other public figures named Peter Jones, including the journalist and broadcaster. In Dragon's Den, the investor is the entrepreneur born in Maidenhead in 1966. His investments on the programme have covered consumer products, technology and food businesses.
