Deborah Meaden joined the British Dragons' Den panel in its third series and later became one of its longest-serving investors.
Meaden joined the regular cast in series three, following the original panel’s first two series. She is a British businesswoman whose career included work in leisure and holiday businesses, and she brought experience in consumer-facing companies to the programme.
Her arrival is often confused with that of Rachel Elnaugh, the sole woman on the original panel. Elnaugh was present when the programme launched, whereas Meaden became the prominent female Dragon in the later, more familiar line-up.
Meaden’s on-screen approach commonly focuses on the entrepreneur’s underlying business model, customer demand and the practical path to expansion. As with every Dragon, an apparent agreement in the studio is not automatically a completed investment; due diligence can affect the final outcome.
