Duncan Bannatyne left Dragon's Den in 2014 after appearing in every series up to that point.
Bannatyne joined the original UK panel in 2005 and remained a Dragon through the programme's first twelve series. He announced his departure in 2014, saying that he wanted to pursue other interests, including work connected with his charitable foundation and business activities.
He was replaced on the regular panel by Nick Jenkins for series thirteen. Peter Jones was the only original Dragon to remain continuously on the show after Bannatyne's departure, making the distinction between the two long-serving investors important.
Before television, Bannatyne built businesses in care homes, health clubs and hotels. He also became known for philanthropy, particularly through the Bannatyne Charitable Trust, which supports disadvantaged children and young people.
