Which Dos Equis campaign featured the fictional character known as the Most Interesting Man in the World?

The story behind the answer

Dos Equis featured the fictional character known as “The Most Interesting Man in the World” in its long-running advertising campaign.

The campaign was created for the Mexican beer brand Dos Equis by Euro RSCG, later known as Havas Worldwide. Actor Jonathan Goldsmith portrayed the character in the best-known United States advertisements, while voice-over narration delivered exaggerated claims about his adventures, reputation and abilities.

The commercials usually ended with the line, “I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I drink Dos Equis.” The character’s deliberately over-the-top biography became a major internet meme and entered everyday popular culture.

Goldsmith is often identified as the character himself, but he played the advertising figure rather than creating the campaign’s fictional identity. The campaign began in 2006 and continued with different creative developments after Goldsmith’s period as its principal actor.
