Which Disney character is the king of Disney Castle in Kingdom Hearts?

Mickey Mouse is the king of Disney Castle in Kingdom Hearts. He is usually called King Mickey or simply the king, and his absence helps set the first game’s adventure in motion.

When the Heartless begin threatening the worlds, Mickey leaves Disney Castle to investigate the growing danger. Before departing, he sends instructions to Donald Duck and Goofy to find the Keyblade wielder and protect the worlds. Their search leads them to Sora, who joins them while looking for his missing friends Riku and Kairi.

Minnie Mouse is depicted as the queen of Disney Castle and rules in Mickey’s absence, but she is not the kingdom’s king. Donald serves as the court magician, while Goofy is captain of the royal guard. Mickey is also an experienced Keyblade Master, giving him a role that connects Disney Castle’s royal court to the series’ larger conflict between light and darkness.
