Which deity is the creator among the Hindu Trimurti?

The story behind the answer

Which deity is the creator among the Hindu Trimurti? Brahma is the creator deity.

The Trimurti presents three cosmic functions through three major deities: Brahma creates, Vishnu preserves, and Shiva destroys or transforms. This framework became especially prominent in later Hindu theological traditions and is often summarized as creation, preservation, and dissolution.

Brahma appears in creation narratives connected with the cosmic golden embryo, or Hiranyagarbha, and is also associated with Prajapati and the Vedas. Traditional images commonly show him with four heads, representing the four Vedas or the four directions, and seated on a lotus. His vehicle is usually described as a hamsa, often translated as a swan or goose.

Brahma should not be confused with Brahman, the formless ultimate reality in many Hindu philosophical systems. Although Brahma has an important theological role, he has fewer major temples and less popular worship than Vishnu or Shiva. The famous Brahma Temple at Pushkar in Rajasthan is one of the best-known exceptions.
