Answer
Under Wraps
Answer
Under Wraps
Under Wraps was the first Disney Channel Original Movie, premiering in 1997.
The film debuted on Disney Channel on October 25, 1997. Directed by Greg Beeman, it follows three children—Marshall, Amy, and Gilbert—who discover an Egyptian mummy in a neighbor's basement. They revive him with the help of an ancient amulet and name him Harold, then try to keep him safe and hidden.
Under Wraps established the Disney Channel Original Movie label and its blend of young protagonists, comedy, fantasy, and family adventure. It was later followed by many better-known DCOMs, including Brink!, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, and The Thirteenth Year, but those films premiered after it.
The title is sometimes overlooked because the franchise later received a 2021 remake and a 2022 sequel. Those newer films do not change the original's place in DCOM history: the 1997 Under Wraps is the network's first Disney Channel Original Movie.
