“Descendants” premiered on Disney Channel in 2015.
The Disney Channel Original Movie debuted in the United States on July 31, 2015. Directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega, it follows the teenage children of famous Disney villains: Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos, whose parents include Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil.
The story begins when the four teenagers leave the Isle of the Lost and move to Auradon, a kingdom founded by heroes. They are initially expected to steal the Fairy Godmother’s wand so their imprisoned parents can escape, but life in Auradon challenges their assumptions about good, evil, friendship, and identity.
The year can be confused with the release dates of the sequels. “Descendants 2” premiered in 2017, while “Descendants 3” arrived in 2019. The original film launched the franchise in 2015 and was followed by animated spin-offs, specials, and additional films.
