Which cyclist won the first edition of the women's Paris–Roubaix in 2021?

The story behind the answer

Lizzie Deignan won the first edition of the women’s Paris–Roubaix in 2021.

The inaugural Paris–Roubaix Femmes was held on 2 October 2021, one day before the men’s race. It covered 116.4 kilometres from Denain to the Roubaix Velodrome and included seventeen sectors of cobblestones.

Deignan attacked alone with about 80 kilometres remaining and maintained her advantage over the rough sectors. She finished more than a minute ahead of Marianne Vos, while Italian rider Elisa Longo Borghini took third place.

Paris–Roubaix is known as the Hell of the North because of its difficult pavé, muddy conditions and demanding history. The women’s edition created a major professional race on the same iconic roads, including the Carrefour de l’Arbre and the Roubaix velodrome.
