Visa is the credit card company named before the slogan “Everywhere you want to be.”
The phrase became one of Visa’s best-known advertising lines, emphasizing the broad acceptance of its payment network. Visa first used the longer form “Visa, It’s Everywhere You Want to Be” in a campaign launched in 1985, when the company wanted to distinguish itself through the number of merchants accepting its cards.
Visa is a payment network rather than a conventional bank. It processes transactions and connects cardholders, merchants, and financial institutions, while banks and other issuers typically provide the cards and set consumer credit terms. That distinction is why a Visa card can be issued by many different banks.
Visa later evolved the slogan into “Everywhere You Want to Be” and incorporated it into a broader global brand platform in 2014. The slogan is sometimes incorrectly attributed to Mastercard or American Express, which have used their own separate advertising campaigns.
