Brazil won the first FIFA Interactive World Cup in 2004. Thiago Carrico de Azevedo represented Brazil and defeated England’s Chris Bullard in the final of the inaugural competition.
The FIFA Interactive World Cup was an official football video-game tournament organized by FIFA with Electronic Arts and related partners. Its early editions used the FIFA series on console platforms and helped connect traditional football’s governing body with competitive gaming.
The tournament later became known as the FIFA eWorld Cup. It grew from a small international competition into a global qualification system involving online play, regional events, and a large live final.
The FIFA Interactive World Cup should not be confused with the FIFA World Cup played by national football teams. The former was a football simulation esports event, while the latter is the real-world sport’s championship.
