Brazil is the largest country crossed by the Equator.
The Equator passes through northern Brazil, crossing the states of Amazonas, Roraima, Pará and Amapá. Brazil is much larger than the other sovereign countries crossed by the line, including Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Ecuador.
The Equator is an imaginary circle around Earth halfway between the North and South Poles. It divides the planet into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and has a latitude of 0 degrees. Brazil’s equatorial region includes portions of the Amazon rainforest, although the country extends far south of the Equator into temperate and subtropical zones.
